Writing Forward Reading Series: Reyna Grande

The Writing Forward Reading Series Presents a Reading, Q&A, and book signing with Reyna Grande, memoirist and novelist. Thursday, May 2, 2019, 5-6 PM, Sobrato Commons, Sobrato Hall, Santa Clara University.  Co-sponsored by the Santa Clara Review and the Department of English Creative Writing Program.

Reyna Grande will read from and discuss her new memoir, A Dream Called Home, sequel to her award-winning The Distance Between Us, about her life before and after illegally immigrating at age 9 from Mexico to the United States. A Dream Called Home tells the inspiring story of one young woman’s journey to find her place in America as a first-generation university graduate, a Latina, and a writer determined to change the course of her family forever. Reyna Grande is a powerful and skillful storyteller, and her latest memoir is a vital narrative that gives voice to the millions of immigrants who have come to the U.S. to find a better future.

“A moving memoir about building a family, becoming a writer, and redefining America.”

–Viet Thanh Nguyen, Pulitzer Prize winning author of The Sympathizer.
